Halo Invest · Society

Your cooperative deserves better than a spreadsheet.

Eighty members. One laptop. And a WhatsApp group at 11pm. Halo Society gives your society a real back office — and gives every member their own account.

The register

Society does not make members pay.
It makes the record impossible to argue with.

Most cooperative disputes are not really about money. They are about whose version of the record is correct. Here is the same month of dues, kept two ways.

March dues for six of eighty members, shown as kept on a spreadsheet and as kept in Halo Society. Illustrative record structure; names are examples.

Four of these six rows cannot be defended at an AGM. Two members are in dispute, one has no entry at all, and the entries that do exist have nothing behind them.

Every row is now attributable, timestamped and referenced. Two members are still behind — but nobody is arguing about it, and the register reconciles itself.

Illustrative record structure. Member names are examples, not real members.

Two ways in · one set of records

Your executives and your members do not need the same tool.

So they do not get the same one. The cooperative is run from a web portal built for a committee. Members hold their own accounts on their own phones. Both write to the same register.

For the cooperative

Halo Business Banking Portal

On the web — for chairmen, treasurers, secretaries and committee members.

  • The full member register, in one place
  • Dues and contributions tracked as they land
  • Esusu and rotating savings cycles
  • Loan requests, eligibility and approvals
  • Statements you can take into your AGM

For every member

The HaloInvest app

On Android and iOS — for every member of the society.

  • Their own account and their own balance
  • Contribute, and watch it land
  • Their own statement, whenever they ask
  • Their share of the group's position
  • Invest from ₦10,000 in the Halo Equity Fund
  • Individual member accounts
  • Never a pooled wallet
  • Full audit trail

What Society handles

The five things that actually take up your committee's evenings.

Contributions and dues

Set the schedule once. Contributions are recorded against the member who made them, with a reference and a timestamp. Arrears are visible before they become a problem.

Esusu and rotating savings

The cycle, the order, and whose turn it is — held by the system instead of by memory. Everyone can see the same rotation.

Cooperative loans

Requests come in through a process rather than a phone call. Eligibility is calculated from the member's own contribution record, so the queue is defensible.

Member statements

Every member can pull their own history without asking the secretary for it. That single change removes most of the friction in a cooperative's year.

Putting idle funds to work

Money the society is holding does not have to sit in a current account earning nothing. It can go into the Halo Equity Fund — Nigeria's No. 1 performing equity mutual fund in 2025 — managed by Halo Nigeria Capital Management Ltd.

And the part that matters most

None of it sits in a pooled wallet. Every naira is attributable to a named member. That protects your members — and it protects whoever's name is on the records.

Founding Cooperative cohort

We are onboarding a capped first group.

Founding Cooperatives shape how Society works for everyone who comes after them, and they are not treated like a queue number.

  • Priority onboarding — your society is set up ahead of general availability.
  • A named account manager — a person, not a support ticket.
  • Preferential terms, locked in — agreed once and held.
  • A direct line into the roadmap — your committee's problems get heard first.
  • Public recognition — named as a Founding Cooperative, if you want to be.

What happens after you register

  1. 1

We read your submission and come back to you, usually within two working days.

  2. 2

A 15-minute walkthrough for your finance committee — on a call or in person in Lagos.

  3. 3

If it fits, we set your society up and migrate your existing register with you.

Questions your committee will ask

Before you take this to a meeting.

Who uses the portal, and who uses the app?

Your executives use the Halo Business Banking Portal on the web — that is where the register, contributions, Esusu cycles, loans and statements are managed. Members only need the HaloInvest app on their phone. Nobody has to learn both.

Is our members' money pooled together?

No. Each member holds an individual account in their own name, with their own balance and their own statement. There is no pooled wallet at any point, and every contribution carries an audit trail back to the member who made it.

Who is regulated, and by whom?

Member accounts sit with Halo Microfinance Bank Ltd, which is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria. Investments are managed by Halo Nigeria Capital Management Ltd, which is licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission. Licensing means oversight — it is not a guarantee of returns.

What is the minimum a member can invest?

₦10,000 into the Halo Equity Fund. That threshold is deliberately low so that a society's newer or lower-income members are not excluded from the group's investment position.

Can we move our existing records across?

Yes — this is part of onboarding rather than something you do alone. Bring whatever you have, in whatever state it is in. Spreadsheets and paper ledgers are both normal starting points, and we would rather see the real thing than a tidied version.

Does our cooperative need to be formally registered?

Tell us your current registration status on the form — registered, in progress, or not yet — and we will confirm exactly what applies to your situation before you commit to anything. It is a short conversation, not an obstacle course.

What does it cost?

Founding Cooperative terms are agreed per society, because a 40-member staff cooperative and a 900-member trade association are not the same proposition. We will put the numbers in front of your committee at the walkthrough rather than leave you to guess at them here.

We are not in Lagos. Does that matter?

No. The portal is on the web and the app is on any Android or iOS phone. Tell us your state on the form and we will arrange the walkthrough to suit — a call works just as well as a room.
